Labuan, 30 August 2024 – A delegation from the Post Secondary English Language Curriculum Framework (PSELCF) observation team recently conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the PSELCF implementation at Kolej Matrikulasi Labuan. The team, led by Madam Noorunnuha Binti Shahfuddin, the English Language Coordinator from Bahagian Matrikulasi Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (BMKPM), included subject matter experts (SME) from various other matriculation colleges : Madam Maziyah Binti Mazlan (Kolej Matrikulasi Melaka), Madam Roswati Binti Mohd Said (Kolej Matrikulasi Johor), and Madam Norliana Binti Ibrahim (Kolej Matrikulasi Negeri Sembilan).
Over the course of two days, the delegation observed English Language tutorials and engaged in detailed discussions with the lecturers. Their evaluation focused on the alignment of teaching practices with PSELCF guidelines, the quality of instructional materials, and the effectiveness of student-centered learning approaches.
In the concluding briefing held in Bilik Mesyuarat Utama, Kolej Matrikulasi Labuan, the delegation commended the college's efforts to embrace the PSELCF. They acknowledged the enthusiasm and dedication of the English language lecturers. However, they also highlighted areas for improvement, such as the need for more consistent alignment between instructional materials and the Scheme of Work (SoW) and the integration of technology to enhance student engagement.
The delegation emphasized the importance of fostering critical thinking, effective communication, and the strategic use of AI tools in lesson planning. They expressed confidence in the college's ability to address these recommendations and continue its trajectory of PSELCF implementation.
