Matriculation Students Enhance English Skills Through Immersive Learning Program

KML partners with UMS to deliver transformative language experience
Kolej Matrikulasi Labuan's English Language Unit recently concluded a successful Matriculation English Immersion Program (MEIP) in collaboration with TESL students from the Faculty of Education and Sports Studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
The program brought together 35 matriculation students—20 male and 15 female participants—representing various English proficiency levels from CEFR A2 to Low B2. Under the guidance of nine UMS facilitators and two program advisors, the initiative created an enriching environment for students to develop their language competencies through interactive and engaging activities.
Throughout the program, participants were divided into six groups, each demonstrating unique strengths that earned them special recognition. Group 1 was celebrated as "The Most Charming," while Group 2 received accolades for being "The Most Creative." Group 3's lively discussions earned them "The Most Talkative" title, and Group 4 exemplified collaboration as "The Most Teamwork." Group 5's enthusiasm shone through with "The Most Energetic" award, while Group 6 stood out as "The Most Outstanding."

Individual excellence was also recognized, with Mohammad Aiman Dinie bin Roslee (H32) named Best Male Participant and Nur Allya Najwa binti Redwan @ Mohd Mizam (A20) honored as Best Female Participant for their exceptional engagement and progress throughout the program.
The collaborative effort involved 46 participants in total, bringing together students and educators from both institutions in a meaningful exchange of knowledge and experience. This partnership underscores both institutions' commitment to providing innovative language learning opportunities that prepare students for academic and professional success.
